More Cleaner, Healthier Air With Dreamliner

15 Jun 2012 | Dreamliner Blog

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the Dreamliner. Boeing’s super jet is set to revolutionise long-haul travel. But what’s so good about it?

  • We all know about the…
  • > 5 pieces of fruit and veg
  • > 8 cups of water
  • > 10,000 steps
  • > 8 hours of sleep

… we’re supposed to have every day in order to lead a healthier-than-thou lifestyle. But did you know, you need 550 litres of oxygen a day to be at your best, too? Oxygen is food for the brain. So, when the gas is in short supply, your brain doesn’t work properly. Rationing your oxygen can make you forgetful, restless, irritable and tired.

If the above words sum up the way you feel when you’re flying, it’s no coincidence. The cabins of all commercial airplanes are pressurised, which hampers the body’s ability to absorb oxygen from the air.

The Dreamliner is a horse of a different colour when it comes to inflight oxygen levels. Thanks to the design of the fuselage, the Dreamliner cabin can be pressurised lower than other aircraft. If you want the science bit – the Dreamliner is pressurised to 6,000 feet rather than 8,000 feet, which allows the body to absorb 8 per cent more oxygen.

Sums aside, passengers who fly on the Dreamliner can look forward to being a bit more energetic, smiley, and focused than travellers who don’t. We’re not saying you’ll be ready to run a marathon at the end of your 10-hour flight to Florida, but you’re much less likely to leave your passport in the seatback pocket and get carousel rage at luggage reclaim.

Have just booked our holiday to Mexico next year and looking forward to our flight on the Dreamliner.

  2. Andrew says:

Finally!! I have been waiting to travel on the Dreamliner since first choice were planning to use it a number of years ago! Today I am so excited to say my partner and myself will be flying to Mexico on your first flight from gatwick for his birthday. Can’t wait to try out your new premium cabin, looks amazing.

See you on the 3rd of May, 2013 :)

    • Geoff B says:

I understand Boeing are having problems with there batteries, so why dont they use similar batteries like there using on the 767 I am sure as a temporary measure this would work until they sort it out + the public I am sure would except the situation because they still get to go on the Dreamliner.

  3. Ryan says:

Just booked Gatwick to Cancun on 2 July 2013 – says it should be on a Dreamliner flight. Are the schedules likely to change? I’m flying for my honeymoon and definitely want to be on the Dreamliner to make it special.

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Ryan, There are no plans for any changes to the Dreamliner flying schedule but if there was, we’d notify customers in advance to let them know. Have a fantastic honeymoon next July.

  4. Zoe Simmonds says:

I have booked for Mexico next year to celebrate my husbands 40th and now looking forward to premium cabin on board the dreamliner – looks fantastic

  5. Laura says:

OMG so excited just book to go Florida with my 4 children & whats better my childrens first ever flight will be on a Dreamliner get in :O)

  6. Terry says:

When will you make available the seating plan for this plane? The photographs are very nice, but are all cropped and don’t really show how the seats are laid out, even in Premium.
Is it 2-3-2, 3-3-3, or what please?

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Terry, Unfortunately we don’t have a seating plan available but I can confirm the configuration is 2-3-2 in premium club and 3-3-3 in economy club.

  7. Lisa Gibbs says:

HI there, I was just wondering if the televisions in Premium Cabin will be touch screen and also will they have ipod connectivity. Thanks

    • Hollie @Thomson says:

Hi Lisa, I can confirm that all seat back TVs on the Dreamliner will be touch screen and they will all have IPod connectivity. I hope that helps.

  8. Viv says:

Have booked premium class for the first flight from Manchester on 4th May 2013, to celebrate my husband and I retiring from work. I have some disabilities, including sleep apnoea which requires me to use a cpap machine when I am asleep, is there anywhere that I will be able to plug my machine into on the plane to use when I’m asleep?

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Viv, The best people to speak to about this will be our Welfare Team as they’re specialised in this department and can tell you whether they have this information on file yet. They’ll be able to advise of the process and also add notes to your booking. They can be contacted on – 0844 871 1600.

  9. Craig says:

Hi I will be booking next year with Thomson to fly to sanford Orlando for glasgow around August 2013 and I was wondering if it would be a Dreamliner what I will be flying on. or is there anything when booking on your website what will tell me what plane it is ? I ask this because I flew last year to Florida out of Glasgow on your boing 767 and never again. The leg room was great but the seats were brick solid like a park bench so I’m glad they are getting renewed !

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

      Hi Craig,

You’ll find our flying schedule for the Dreamliner on our blog so you can check to see if the flight you have booked is the Dreamliner – http://dreamliner.thomson.co.uk/flying-schedule/. And it should also say on your booking confirmation which plane you’ll be on. If it’s not the Dreamliner, it will usually be a 767 but our planes are subject to change.

  10. Chris Clarke says:

Sorry if this is a daft question but, looking at the photo of the reclined seat on this aircraft, how on earth would the passenger behind manage to see their tv screen?. It looks impossible or is this just the angle of the photo.

  11. John M says:

Will the Dreamliner be flying from Newcastle in June 2013?

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi John, The Dreamliner will be flying from Glasgow, Manchester, East Midlands and London Gatwick next year but we will be looking at the possibility of doing other routes when we take further delivery in 2014.

  12. Debbie says:

We celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary next year and have booked premium seats for the Dreamliner flight to Mexico in August. We can’t wait as the plane looks fab.

  13. R Kadesh says:

Me and my partner are travelling from Gatwick to Mexico this November, please can anybody advise me if this is definately what we will be flying on?
    Thanks

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi R Kadesh, We don’t take delivery of the Dreamliner until early next year so unfortunately you won’t be on this plane in November. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to fly on her next year.

  14. Jay Harrison says:

Can’t wait to fly ‘Dreamliner’. A little gutted, however, that Thomson have made the grammatical error of ‘more cleaner’. Hope that they amend this; it might put some english language teachers off.

  15. lisa edge says:

hi , we have just booked our wedding in florida on the dreamliner very excited!

  16. lynne says:

hi so excited we have booked to go to cancun for our honeymoon next year and we traveling on the dreamliner.want it to be special cause it only took us 22 years to get down the aisle….hoping one of our friends are going to pay for a upgrade to premium woo hoo x x

  17. Sandy Glover says:

The level of pressurisation is less important than the frequency of complete cabin air replacement. Recycled stale air is of little value.
In how many minutes will the cabin air be replaced by fresh air from the engines?

    • Hollie @Thomson says:

Hi Sandy, We’ve checked this with our Dreamliner Team, but unfortunately Boeing hasn’t supplied us with this information, so we’re unable to answer your question. I’m sorry we couldn’t help further with this query. ^Hollie

  18. Nige says:

Booked to Florida next May from Manchester – 8 of us is the seat plan 3-3-3 in economy?

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Nige, Yes it is 3-3-3 in economy. Enjoy your flight to Florida next year!

  19. Rob says:

Hi, have just booked Mexico in May next year and have premium seats. The booking states 20kg hold luguage and 5kg hand but the upgrade says 23kg and 7kg, can you confirm which is right

    • Amarita@Thomson says:

Hi Rob, The baggage allowance for Premium Seats is 23kg for the hold, and 7kg for the hand. ^Amarita

  20. Phil Tobin says:

Millions of people worldwide use Android smartphones (Android now out-sells Apple in that regard) and Android tablets. Unless this aircraft is capable of meeting the needs of *all* passengers — not just those who happen to own products made by a single American company — then it’s (a) already out of date and (b) has already alienated a substantial proportion of its potential customer base. We want to fly with Thomson. Not Thomson-Apple.

  21. Phil Tobin says:

Just another point: is Thomson’s Marketing & Public Relations department being run by adolescents and for adolescents? This whole promotional campaign has a bizarre whiff of junior jollies utterly inconsistent with Dreamliner brand — bad enough that it seems everyone must first buy an Apple product in order to maximise their in-flight experience, now I discover I can’t even download the Dreamliner pdf unless I’m on Facebook.

Seriously, is Thomson PR quite mad? Does it *really* think the typical Facebook demographic is going to deliver to Thomson / TUI the profitable Premium Class bookings of the kind we’re interested in making — or, well, we were.

What with blogs, Tweets, Apples and Facebooks, this Dreamliner sell is turning into one of the misaligned campaigns I’ve seen in 35 years of marketing.

Wake up at the back there and try providing a direct link to the Dreamliner brochure.

Amazingly enough, that’s what people want — not a Tweet, Twit, or Facebook account — and there’s no technical reason why Thomson can’t facilitate that using its own servers.

    • Amarita@Thomson says:

Hi Phil, Thank you for your comments and feedback, I’ll be sure to pass this onto our relevant team. You can download the Dreamliner PDF if you wish by accessing our Dreamliner website – http://dreamliner.thomson.co.uk/ and you don’t need to like our Facebook page in order to do this.

  22. maria b says:

we are flying home on the 4thmay 2013 from florida will this flight be on be a dreamliner its tom047

  23. Steve Lawrence says:

We will be flying from London Gatwick on the 17th May 2013 to Cancun and returning on 31st May 2013. Will this be on the Dreamliner?

  24. Chris Clarke says:

Where will the TVs be situated in Premium Class on the Dreamliner. The video and photographs both show them situated as an integral part of the arm rest and not in the seatback is this correct?

    • Kirsty@Thomson says:

Hi Chris, The TV’s will be on the seatback in the Premium Club section. These are 9″ TV’s with play, pause and rewind buttons for you. Hope this helps.

  25. James says:

will the new dreamliner cost more than the average flight to orlando, if so how much?

    • Hollie @Thomson says:

Hi James, Not necessarily, the holiday cost will remain the same as it would when the Boeing 767′s were used, however there will be a £20 per person supplementary charge added to any Dreamliner flights. ^Hollie

      • Sandy Glover says:

        Hollie,

If you read what youv’ve written, the answer to James’ question is “Yes, there’s a £20 supplement”. Where does “not necessarily” come from?

        • Kirsty@Thomson says:

Hi Sandy, This is in regards to the base cost of the flight. This will not necessarily be higher than a normal flight cost.

  26. Neil Anderson says:

We flew to Florida this year on a 767 from LGW and the flight time was 9hr 30min. We are planning to fly out next may which will coincide with the 787 schedule but the flight time is 10 hours, how is this? a more modern aircraft that flies slower? or is this a fuel saving scheme?

    • Amarita@Thomson says:

Hi Neil, The flight time can vary from aircraft to aircraft, however the flight time in the brochures is just an estimate.

  27. Mick Wrightson says:

Just booked for Mexico for my partners 50th next year. Looking forward to the Dreamliner flight. Felt ill since returning from Cuba a fortnight ago. I am hoping the improvment in cabin pressure and the new lighting will improve the all round experience.

    • Hollie @Thomson says:

Hi Mick, I’m sorry to hear you’ve been unwell since you returned from your holiday. I hope you’re feeling better now. What a great way to celebrate your partner’s special birthday. I hope you have a fantastic holiday in Mexico and enjoy your time onboard the Dreamlienr. ^Hollie

  28. John McKee says:

    Hi,

I’m booked to fly to Barbados with Thomson’s on 22nd November 2013 flying from Glasgow – can you confirm that it will be the Dreamliner I’ll be travelling in?

    Thanks, John.

    • Hollie @Thomson says:

Hi John, As far as we’re aware the Dreamliner will only be flying to Mexico and Florida from next year, so I’m unable to confirm what plane will be used for your flight at this time. ^Hollie

  29. dave says:

    Hi,
I have just came across this by chance as i was thinking of booking Florida 18th August 2013 from Glasgow, if i have read the schedule right it will be a Dreamliner if this is true i will go and book it now could you please confirm this.
    Cheers Dave

    • Kirsty@Thomson says:

Hi Dave, I’ve had a check and this is currently planned to be on the Dreamliner for those dates.

  30. tracey dwyer says:

its a shame that in economy the seats are in a 3 3 3 plan and not a 2 4 2 plan because a lot of couples that are flying will be not sat next to each other.

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, Tracey. If you book prebooked seats, you’ll be guaranteed to be sat together.

  31. Wendy says:

We have just booked our 2013 holiday to Florida and will be on the Dreamliner, we will be in economy can you tell me if meals are included?

  32. Alex says:

Hi just booked Florida 2013 10th sept back on 25th will this be a Dreamliner as it doesn’t say on my confirmation I checked the schedule just double checking can’t wait to fly we are flying from easy midlands!!! Excited

  33. Stuart Samphire says:

Hi do you know if there will be crew familiarisation flights with the 787 ? Eg LGW-PMI or AGP ? Or from any UK airport actually ?

    • Hollie @Thomson says:

Hi Stuart, There will be familiarisation flights, however we don’t have the details of these as of yet. ^Hollie

    • Ben says:

Stuart – if your crew, this information has been published by the base managers of LGW/MAN on the company email.

  34. Jez Dewick says:

Hi, we have booked a family holiday to Mexico next summer on the Dreamliner & we are all very much looking forward to trying the new plane.

Regarding the entertainment system (in economy), it states ipod connectivity, however somewhere I read it was more generic (i.e. MP3 connectivity). Can you please confirm? Thanks, Jez.

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Jez, We’re currently waiting for more information on this but hopefully we’ll know more soon.

  35. steffie says:

If our flight is meant to be on a Dreamliner (according to timetable) is it possible for this to change to another aircraft ???

    • Amarita@Thomson says:

Hi Steffie, If for any reason the Dreamliner isn’t available for your departure date, the aircraft can be changed.

  36. Marie says:

    Good afternoon ,
I am currently in the process of booking my trip to florida and travelling on this amazing plane however I am a slightly nervous flyer so therefore I like the idea of flying premium class what can the air crew offer to help me be a ease or is there a way I can tell me crew in advance my worries ? many thanks

    • Amarita@Thomson says:

Hi Marie, We can let the cabin crew know that you’re a nervous flyer. I’m sure the cabin crew will try their best to make sure that you’re at ease during the entire flight, and if you need them at any time, they’ll be able to help you.

  37. tasty tom says:

Hello there~can i ask how many Dreamliners you will have in operation come May 2013?

  38. Barry Hill says:

You may think I,m daft I,m terrified of flying would definitely not even try to fly on the Dreamliner as it has bigger windows. Just cannot stand the height Why am I on this site My stepgrandson was getting me to look at it In the hope I might be encouraged to go on holiday with them for once. No luck I,m afraid. But then they don’t like sea or train travel either
    Stalemate
    Barry

  39. tasty tom says:

Hello~hope you can help please….regarding your Dreamliner flight from Glasgow next year~your Thomson brochure shows it as a Sunday flight departing Glasgow however your planned flight schedule on this website shows it as a Monday flight??????
Can you clarify please~i guess the brochure is correct so it would help if this site showed correct details too.
    Thanks :O)

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Is this for Mexico or Florida, Tom?

      • tasty tom says:

My apologies~i should have said Florida :O)
I have now booked my holiday flying out to Florida with Thomson on Sunday 26th May 2013 ( TOM 570/571 flight number ) i was assured this was a Dreamliner flight….hope you can confirm this for me :O) thanks!

        • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, Yes, you’re flight from Glasgow is currently planned to be on the Dreamliner.

  40. Chris Clarke says:

When are the seat plans likely to be released for the Dreamliner, also can you tell me which side of the aircraft are the toilets going to be situated in the Premium cabin. Thanks

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, We’ve not got the Dreamliner’s seating plan at the moment. As soon as we have these details, we’ll let everyone know.

  41. macualey says:

looking forward to the dreamliner it costing alot but can’t wait ive been waiting for this for a while

  42. r lee says:

Hi i was just wondering we are booked to fly on 18th of september 2013 to cancun. how much would it cost to upgrade to first class thanks.

    • Hollie @Thomson says:

Hi Rikki, As prices can change, you’ll need to contact us about the price for Premium seats. If you’ve booked in one of our shops then please speak directly to them or if you’ve booked online please contact us on – 0844 871 0878. ^Hollie

  43. Pauline Reid says:

    Hi

I have booked to travel to Orland from Glasgow on Sunday 12th May next year. I have looked at your Dreamliner schedule and it does say that the Dreamliner will be flying from Glasgow on this date. After reading some of the replies from Thomson’s it states that the aircraft type should be noted on your booking confirmation. I have re-checked my confirmation (booked online), but it doesn’t say. Can you confirm that this flight will be the Dreamliner please as this is why we chose this date and to fly from Glasgow.

    Many thanks for your help.

    • Pauline Reid says:

Sorry I should have also mentioned, our flight shows as departing on a Sunday but the flight schedule on this page shows it as a Monday, are you able to clarify please.

      Thanks again.

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Pauline, These flights are currently set to be on the Dreamliner. The flight is on the Sunday, but the return flight arrives back in the UK on the Monday. Sorry for the confusion.

  44. Emma says:

Hi, We are flying to Mexico from Manchester on 27th April 2013, returning on 11th May (TOM145). Is the return flight scheduled to be on the Dreamliner? Thanks

  45. lesley clarke says:

going to florida next year coming back on 9th may and can you confirm its the dreamliner on the return journey as its my ruby wedding whoooooo

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Lesley, If you could let us know your flight number we can check this for you.

  46. Kristen says:

    Hi,
We have booked to go to Mexico on the dreamliner next August (very excited as its our honeymoon!!)
When will the book your seats thing open?
I’m not a great flyer and would prefer to get our seats booked!!
We are premium club so should be fine to get a 2 rather than a 3 with a stranger beside us!

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Kristen, That’s great you’ve booked your honeymoon with us and you’ll be travelling in one of the newest planes around. The seat plan opens 90 days before your return date, you’ll usually get an e-mail reminder from us if you’ve booked online or just keep your eye on the date.

  47. Jane Wardle says:

So excited flying out to Sanford on 7th May from east midlands. I’ve been told it will be on the dreamliner. If there is a delay in the delivery of the dreamliner what plane would be used as a replacement as some tomfly planes only have 5 rows in premium .

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Jane, This flight should be on the Dreamliner, but if there are delays to delivery we’ll let you know. Where possible we would try and use our Boeing 767′s with 9 rows of Premium seats.

  48. Pauline says:

I noticed that you did not answer one of the questions regarding the reclining seats in the premium cabin and how would people be able to watch their screens. Can you confirm that the seats will have foot rests as well as reclining. The price for premium seats is more expensive on the dreamliner than your regular flights if the dreamliner is not used will we be re-imbursed the difference in cost of these seats.

    • Kirsty@Thomson says:

Hi Pauline, The seats do recline in the Premium cabin and the screens will fold out of the arm rests to each individual seat. The seats will have foot rests and you can see video and images of the cabin through this link http://holidaysjustgotbetter.thomson.co.uk/. If for any reason you don’t travel on the 787, you will be refunded £10 per passenger per way which is the flight supplement. This is in the A-Z under 787. You wouldn’t be refunded the difference compared with Premium seats on another flight as all destinations vary. Hope this helps.

  49. Lynn says:

My husband and I have booked to go to Mexico next June 3rd from Glasgow for our silver wedding and have paid £270 per person to upgrade to Premium class as we have never flown long haul before, so we are expecting good things, cant wait as this will be the perfect start to our special celebrations, so excited it looks amazing !!!!!!! :)

  50. Chris Clarke says:

I asked question regarding the siting of the tv’s in the premium cabin, i was told that they will all be in the seat backs!!. Could someone kindly clarify where they will actually be?. There are also rumours on several travel websites that deliveries of the 787 have been delayed again. What is the current situation regarding this?. Thanks

  51. Chris Clarke says:

Could someone answer the above question please just for clarification. Many thanks.

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, In the premium cabin the monitors are in the arm rests and they pull out in each seat to provide an individual monitor. I hope this helps.

  52. Chris Clarke says:

Thanks for that Lauren, it was a little confusing when Kirsty said they were in the seat backs in her reply on 11/8/12 and then in the arm rests in her reply on 1/11/12.

  53. Gill McN says:

We are booked 3rd June 2013 to fly to cancun from Glasgow, do you know if this will be on one of your new Dreamliner planes?

  54. Paul says:

I’m booked on TOM046 Gatwick to Sanford 27/4/2013, return TOM047 Sanford to Gatwick 11/5/2013. Will the return flight therefore be on the new 787?

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Paul, Your outbound flight’s a bit early as the Dreamliners won’t fly the route until May. Your inbound flight should be on the new plane though.

  55. derek says:

my wife requires inflight oxygen we have a sequal 3 poc can this be connected to the 787 system via personal plug

    • Amarita@Thomson says:

Hi Derek, We’re just trying to get this information for you. Can you just confirm that your wife wishes to use an on board power supply to run your own system for the oxygen please?

  56. Chris Clarke says:

Do rows A/B & F/G all have window seats?. From the videos it looks like the last row A/B don’t have a window seat. Also do the last seats in all the rows recline. Many thanks.

    • Adam @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, We haven’t got this information just yet however if you keep on eye on the website and the blogs, we should have more in depth information soon.

  57. Chris Clarke says:

Sorry my question above was referring to the Premium Club section. Thanks

  58. Ashleigh Wood says:

What are the benefits to booking premium seat as apposed to the standard seating, we booked premium seats for our flight to thailand and where curious as to what separates the two seat types

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Ashleigh, Our Premium Club will offer increased legroom of 38 inches, as well as a four course meal, complimentary drinks throughout the flight, excluding champagne, increased luggage allowance, priority check-in and boarding, pampering goodies and at some airports we’ll be offering fast track through security.

  59. Clare C says:

We are booked on the Dreamliner premier seating to Mexico from Manchester in May. We can’t wait !!!!

  60. Denise says:

I am travelling to Florida from Glasgow on 15 September 2013, will this be a dreamliner flight? The brochure states the times of the dreamliner flight is 11.25am (which was the time I booked for and was confirmed at the time of my booking) but my flight has now been changed to 11.45am. Am I no longer on the dreamliner?

    • Christina @Thomson says:

Hi Denise, If you could confirm your flight number for me then I’ll be able to let you know whether or not you’re still scheduled to fly on the Dreamliner.

  61. Charmaine & Michael says:

Hi we just booked our premium seats on the new Dreamliner flying to Mexico from Glasgow in August very excited it looks amazing cant wait.

  62. Gemma says:

Hi, can you tell me the width of the seats in Premium vs Economy. Thanks

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Gemma, Our Premium seats are 19 inches in width and our Economy seats are 17.5inches. I hope this helps.

  63. jen says:

why did econermey not go 2.4.3 as not all groups are 3 and some people dont like sitting next to strangers or like my self closrofobic and other half likes the window so we would need to pay extra to upgrade for the priemum as they are in 2s

    • Christina @Thomson says:

Hi Jen, I’m sorry you feel this way. Both our Economy and Premium is structured as so because that’s the plan of the aircraft. I can however feed your comments back to the relevant department for you.

  64. Cheryl says:

Hello. Looking to book Florida in September and upgrade to premium economy. Could you let me know if I can book the seats at the time of booking the holiday or will this be 90 days before as with select a seat? Thanks in advance for your reply

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Cheryl, You can add the Premium Club seating option at the time of booking if available. Then you’ll just need to wait until 90 days before your return date to select your seat numbers.

  65. helen says:

i have booked to go on dreamliner in may but worried with all the problems its having, can I change to another plane?

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Helen, Having checked with Boeing we have no reason to believe the delivery of our first 787 Dreamliner will be delayed. Our first Thomson Dreamliner is still on track to be delivered early this year. Boeing has reassured us that they are taking action to rectify the issues highlighted to them. I hope this helps.

  66. Chris Clarke says:

We booked our holiday so we could fly on the dreamliner. We are very concerned with the constant doubts surrounding the aircraft. If this plane does not come into service for our holiday where does that leave us?, can we cancel as this service would not be available?. We have paid for Premium Club seats which are not available on other aircraft. I understand that the Dreamliner is currently under review in America.

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, The safety of our customers is paramount and we don’t currently expect and delays in the delivery of our 787 Dreamliners. Boeing has assured us they’re taking action to rectify the issues that have been highlighted to them. If anything were to change, we’d keep you updated with any further developments. If you wish to amend you booking normal Terms and Conditions will apply.

  67. maggie says:

I have booked a holiday to flordia in may I am also worried re the problems this aircraft is having. I hope you do not leave it to the eleventh hour to update your customers

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Maggie, The safety of our customers is paramount and we don’t currently expect and delays in the delivery of our 787 Dreamliners. Boeing has assured us they’re taking action to rectify the issues that have been highlighted to them. If anything were to change, we’d keep you updated with any further developments.

  68. anne marie elmore says:

hi, can you tell me if my tom046 and tom 047 lgw sfb are dreamliner flights as i was told at the time of booking they were

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Anne Marie, I’ve just checked this for you and your flights are scheduled to be Dreamliner flights. I hope this helps.

  69. Mohammed says:

I booked a dreamliner flight for May 2013 to Cancun. The site did not show an upgrade option so assumed that we could upgrade to premium via my booking page but still no option to do so. Please tell me how I can upgrade

    • Elaine @Thomson says:

Hi Mohammed, If you can send me your booking reference number I can check this for you.

  70. Mohammed says:

Hi Elaine, my ref no is
    I really appreciate your help.

    • Elaine @Thomson says:

Hi Mohammed. The reason there are no upgraded seats showing is they are all booked. I’m sorry if this has caused any disappointment.

  71. helen says:

I booked on the dreamliner flight but really don’t fancy it now due to all the problems the plane is facing. Can I change my booking to go on another plane?

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Helen, Whilst I can understand your concerns Thomson Airways has an impeccable safety record. We have stringent safety standards in place across our entire fleet, which will of course include the Dreamliner when we take delivery this year. If you do decide you’d like to amend your holiday, normal Terms and Conditions will apply.

  72. alan says:

Just the thought of going on the dreamliner is fantastic we only booked this holiday because of this plane,we read the press reports on the safety of the plane, we will be so disappioned if we cannot go to Mexico on this plane, are the same problems on all the planes.

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Alan, We are aware of the new reports about the 787 Dreamliner that have appeared in the press and can appreciate how this may cause concern for customers who are set to travel on our new Dreamliners in May. Boeing has reassured us that they are taking action to rectify the issues highlighted to them and we have been working very closely with them to make sure our Dreamliner’s will be delivered on time for their first flights. We would like to reassure you that the safety of our customers travelling on our aircraft is of paramount importance and our number one priority at all times. As we have mentioned in earlier posts, Thomson Airways has an impeccable safety record and we have stringent safety standards in place across our entire fleet, which will of course include the Dreamliner when we take delivery this year. We are confident that you’ll experience all the customer benefits of this modern and sophisticated aircraft and arrive safely for a great holiday with your family. If customers wish to transfer to an alternative holiday or alternative flight then they will need to pay the necessary amendment fees to do so.

  73. Chris Clarke says:

Despite the assurances given on here on 11/01 & 14/01, today has seen yet another problem with this aircraft,it had to make an emergency landing in Japan. It looks like there are real problems with it and i for one will be cancelling my booking. It’s not just a one off problem, it seems that these problems are arising on a weekly basis. I’m afraid that Thomson putting out a standard excuse; Impeccable safety standard or Boeing are dealing with issues highlighted to them, doesn’t cut it with me any longer. To give customers some belief Thomson should really be saying that until this aircraft has proven reliability we won’t put it into service.

    • Joanne @Thomson says:

      Hi Chris,

I’m sorry to hear you’re considering cancelling your booking. We appreciate your concerns and would like to reassure you that we’ve spoken to Boeing directly who’ve assured us they are working to review and rectify all issues as quickly as possible. At this present time, Boeing have assured us this will not affect our delivery dates of our first Dreamliner. We have the utmost confidence in the safety of this aircraft. Please be advised, if you do wish to amend or cancel your booking, normal booking conditions apply.

  74. Anne says:

I am due to fly to Mexico on 5th April- will this be a Dreamliner flight?

  75. Chris Clarke says:

Thanks for your reply Joanne, however Boeing have been giving assurances for months and nothing has changed. I appreciate that this is not the fault of Thomson but it’s one problem after another with this aircraft, and, they have all been different. How can people have any confidence in it.

    • Rebecca @Thomson says:

      Hi Chris,

I can appreciate that the news reports may cause concern for customers who are set to travel on our new Dreamliners. I would like to reassure you that the safety of customers travelling on our aircraft is of paramount importance. Thomson Airways has an impeccable safety record and we have stringent safety standards in place across our entire fleet, which will include the Dreamliner when we take delivery.

  76. Sharon says:

ate TOM 642 and TOM 643 from edinburgh 3rd july dreamliner flghts

    • Christina @Thomson says:

Hi Sharon, I’ve just checked this for you and can confirm these are not Dreamliner flights.

  77. Tom Merry says:

Hello there-can i ask when exactly do Thomson take delivery of their Dreamliner Aircraft? Surely with all the reported problems delivery will be obviously delayed which in turn means that Thomson Dreamliner flights will not commence from May 2013

    • Elaine @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, We’re working closely with Boeing and at this current time we’re not expecting any delay in the delivery of our 787 Dreamliner.

  78. steve says:

Hi we are flying to florida on may 2nd and was told this would be one of the first dreamliner flights could you please confirm that TOM186 is a dreamliner flight thx

  79. joe heagren says:

We are travelling late June and whilst this is some time away it is not absolute that the dreamliner will be flying. If the dreamliner does not fly as expected will we get the refund for the extra we paid for flying the dreamliner?

    • James @Thomson says:

Hi Joe, Thanks for your message. Here at Thomson we have a change policy for all of our aircraft’s, which includes the new 787 Dreamliner. It details that if for some reason we need to make a change through-out the season with our aircraft fleet, then we may do so at any time. We will then notify affected customers as soon as possible with their new aircraft information. If there are any seating premiums that have been paid then a refund for the difference will be issued. All of this information can be found in ‘Our Agreement’ section 4 online or in our brochures. I hope this helps answer your query Joe. I hope you have a wonderful holiday this year.

  80. barry says:

when will there be a seating plane for the dreamliner

    • James @Thomson says:

Hi Barry, Thanks for your message. We’re still awaiting final confirmation of the seating plan for the new 787 Dreamliner. However once we have that information it’ll be available on our website. I hope this helps.

  81. Bob says:

Hi We have booked to fly premium club Gatwick to Cancun 22 May 2013 my booking shows baggage allowance of 20kg should this not be 23kg.

    • Leanne @Thomson says:

Hi Bob, If you send me your booking reference then I will have a look at it for you.

      • Bob says:

        Hi Leanne
        My booking ref is XXXX/XXXXXX
        Many Thanks
        Bob

        • Joanne @Thomson says:

Hi Bob, I’ve checked your booking and can confirm you have 23kg baggage allowance per person on your booking.

  82. Julie-ann says:

Any update on the grounding of the Dreamliners?

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Julie-ann, Thomson Airways is still working towards flying our first commercial Dreamliner on the 1 May 2013. We understand Boeing is doing everything it can to assist the FAA in its investigation and we have every faith in Boeing and its ability to fix these issues as soon as possible.

  83. margaret says:

my neighbours friend work in a travel agents and say there are up the walls sorting out aircraft because of the dreamliners problems, why is there so many conflicting stories with in this industry when all customers want is the REAL STORY which is not that difficult I predict that thompson will loose customers over this I will never book another thompson hoilday

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Margaret, I’m sorry to hear this. Is there a specific question you’d like answering with regards to the Dreamliner?

      • margaret says:

all I really want to know is my holiday in may to orlando still going to happen and will there be a replacement aircraft

        • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Margaret, Should we not receive our Dreamliners in time, your holiday will be unaffected and you’ll travel on an alternative aircraft. You would also be refunded the supplement for the 787 that you’d paid.

          • mags says:

hi this is one great mess I go on holidays in may dont know what airline dreamliner/767 and now I have been told that I will recieve an e-mail 4/5 weeks re travel documents by e-mail I paid by telephone booking i paid in the invoices at thompsons shop because it was easier for me that way an email is useless I dont have a printer please dont add to my worry

  84. Jack says:

In ecomony can i charge my i pad

  85. Julie-ann says:

What date is the seat plan due to go live?

  86. Tom Merry says:

Hello~i am due to fly on 26/5/13 on the Dreamliner from Glasgow to Orlando~Going by posts above it seems that Thomson are still totally confident that they will have their dreamliners delivered in time and in use by start of May.
However the staff in my local Thomson travel agents certainly do not have the same confidence as today i was told that the Dreamliners WILL NOT be happening as planned as they are already aware of a huge delay in delivery.
When i booked our holiday i could have gotten the identical holiday cheaper with another company however we paid your higher price simply to experience the Dreamliner.
This situation of not knowing will do your companys reputation no good at all. I am so annoyed at the fact that Thomson are unwilling to be totally honest with their customers

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, Could I please ask which store you made your booking at? Boeing has not confirmed the Thomson Airways delivery schedule and we are still waiting for a confirmed delivery date from Boeing. However, we have every faith in Boeing and its ability to fix these issues as soon as possible.

  87. Julie-ann says:

If w are it. Able to go on the dreamliner that we paid for why is not the full extra amount reimbursed?

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Julie-Ann, Could you repeat your question please as I’m a little unsure of your query.

  88. maargaret says:

yes boeing have now sent letters out to thompsons and other airlines according to sky news warning of delays and possiable that the delivery will be prosponed. now is the time to be honest with your customers you spent a lot of money advertising the dreamliner on the television, ask people to name a plane very early on last year the big hype to get customers to use your airline even thought you were not taking taking deliveries for at least six months you advitertised something you did not have should you not have held back longer i do not blame people for being annoyed i am i think people should be able to cancel and get their money back no questions ask due to these facts

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Maargaret, We’ve every faith in Boeing and its ability to fix these issues quickly. The plane is currently subject to a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigation and they will only allow 787s back in the air when a full investigation on the 787s is complete and any issues they find are resolved. Should we not receive our Dreamliners in time, customers holidays will still go ahead and they will travel on an alternative aircraft.

      • MARGARET says:

HOW COME I CAN STILL BOOK A HOLIDAY ON THE WEB FOR MAY TO ORLANDO ON THE DREAMLINE PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION

        • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Margaret. Thank you for your question. Thomson Airways is still working towards flying our first commercial Dreamliner on the 1 May 2013. We have every faith in Boeing and its ability to fix these issues as soon as possible and we understand Boeing is doing everything it can to assist the FAA in its investigation.

  89. Barry hewson says:

With reference to above comments. I have to agree you did advertise the 787 as the ulimate new way to travel. which made me book our family holiday to Orlando with your company. I could have flown from Newcastle (which is a ten minute drive from my home) but as the 787 does not operate from there I have booked to travel premium from Manchester solely for the 787. This has incurred extra costs which i did nt mind for the 787 experience but as we travel regularly to Florida I am dissapointed it may not be on the 787. I could have travelled from Newcastle (still premium) much much cheaper and for your company to only quote the “small print” (which I read) to the posters here does nothing for your reputation. You really need to address this and offer alternative locations to fly from (if 787 not avail) and offer refunds even though the “small print” has the typical get out clause. After all you did to a really good advertising package for the 787 making your customers believe it would be operational.

    • Adam @Thomson says:

Hi Barry, We want to make you aware that Thomson Airways hasn’t yet been given a new delivery date for its first 787 Dreamliner by Boeing. Our priority is to ensure our customers go on their holidays and we’re, therefore, putting contingency plans in place including using alternative aircraft for our long-haul flights to Florida if delivery is delayed beyond the end of March. As soon as Boeing confirm our delivery schedule, should your flight be impacted, we’ll immediately contact you to discuss your booking.

  90. Julie-ann says:

Sorry predicted text my question was vague

If because of delays in the dreamliner being delivered and the knock on effect this will have and we have to go on another aircraft surely the WHOLE amount of the extra paid for the dreamliner/day etc shoud be refunded to the customer!

    • Adam @Thomson says:

Hi Julie-Ann, As soon as Boeing confirm our new delivery schedule, should your flight be impacted, we’ll immediately contact you to discuss your booking.

  91. tricia says:

Going to Florida 16July 2013 from Glasgow flight number TOM584 returningTOM585 could you please tell me if this is Dreamliner

    • Adam @Thomson says:

Hi Tricia, The Tuesday 16th July 2013 flight from Glasgow to Sanford, Florida is currently scheduled to be on the 787 Dreamliner.

  92. mary says:

why can you still book an holiday on thompson website for a holiday to flordia in may flying the dreamliner and also there aere premium seats left I have just tried it and my booking would have been accepted. come on stop fooling people look after the customers you have and since the 767 have less seating ensure all your present have their holiday befor looking for futher customers.

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Mary, Thank you for your question. Thomson Airways is still working towards flying our first commercial Dreamliner on the 1 May 2013. However, we have every faith in Boeing and its ability to fix these issues as soon as possible. We will of course strive to give customers as much notice as possible, should they not be flying on the 787. Once we understand our delivery schedule from Boeing, and if this does impact on our 787 Dreamliner flight operations we will then communicate alternative aircraft types to customers.

  93. Andy says:

I have to agree with earlier comments RE paying extra to travel with Thomson as it would be using the new 787′s. Your company have sung from the rooftops about being the 1st to have the new plane. Now, admittedly through no fault of your own, there’s going to be a big delay (whatever the ‘official’ line being told to the public is this week). To quote to people who don’t want to travel on other planes ‘normal T+C cancellation fees apply’ is very poor. You sold the holidays based on these flights. perhaps with hindsight you should have waited before blowing the trumpets. To now penalise those who cancel through fear or to get better deals on the same planes elsewhere reeks of disdain for your customers.

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Andy, Thank you for your blog post. I can understand your comments. Thomson Airways is still working towards flying our first commercial Dreamliner on the 1 May 2013. We have every faith in Boeing and its ability to fix these issues as soon as possible and we understand Boeing is doing everything it can to assist the FAA in its investigation. As soon as we hear more information we’ll notify our customer straight away.

  94. Chris Clarke says:

I have actually cancelled my holiday with Thomson as i do not believe that we would have flown on this aircraft in June. I had to pay a fee of £500 to cancel. I feel that this is totally unfair behaviour on the part of Thomson. The vast majority of people booked to fly the Dreamliner simply because they wanted to experience the aircraft. It looks highly likely that those booked to fly in early May certainly won’t be flying on it. The upshot of this is that the nearer it get to these peoples holidays the higher the cancellation costs Thomson charges. Surely Thomson should be saying to people, as it’s not your fault that we cannot provide the service you have paid for you have the option to cancel foc. The comments on here from Thomson come very close to misleading. How can a huge company, like Thomson, have no idea at this stage what impact this is going to have on their customers. The first flights should be in around 11 weeks, Thomson should be demanding answers from Boeing instead of passing the buck. People who booked mainly to fly this aircraft are being treated poorly and it will cost them if they do not wish to fly on the old uncomfortable 767s. Come on Thomson do the right thing by your customers and don’t hide behind the small print.

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, Sorry to hear you’re disappointed which has resulted in cancelling your holiday. Thomson Airways is still working towards flying our first commercial Dreamliner on the 1 May 2013. We have every faith in Boeing and its ability to fix these issues as soon as possible and we understand Boeing is doing everything it can to assist the FAA in its investigation. Once we understand our delivery schedule from Boeing, and if this does impact on our 787 Dreamliner flight operations we will then communicate alternative aircraft types to customers.

  95. nick says:

When will seatplans be released. I want to pre-book my seats but have no seatplan!!!

  96. Julie-ann says:

Although we cannot book out seat until 90 days from our return dates where can we just view the seat plans?

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Julie-Ann. Thank you for your question regarding the seating plan. Unfortunately you can’t see the seating plan until the 90 day period. Once this period opens, then you’ll be allowed to view the seating configuration. I hope this helps and have a wonderful holiday.

  97. Chris Clarke says:

Stefan, the fact is that the longer people leave it to cancel the more people will have to pay in charges. A lot of people have paid a lot of money to fly on a promised aircraft. Thomson can no longer be certain that they can provide this aircraft. I know for a fact that i am not the only one to cancel because it’s doubtful i could fly on this aircraft. Thomson must be aware that it’s perfectly feasible that the Dreamliner may not fly until later in the year.

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, I can understand your comments. As a business we’re working close with Boeing to make sure the Dreamliner is 100% fit to fly. The reason why we haven’t released any further news is because we remain confident in resolving this matter. I will pass your comments on Chris.

  98. Tom Merry says:

Hello Lauren-my holiday to Florida was booked by a local independent travel agent however i opted for the Dreamliner flight in the premium cabin simply because we wanted to experience this new and exciting aircraft. We paid premium prices too in my opinion for this experience as we could have gotten cheaper flights with other companies. Now going by the tv news and the press Thomson are fully aware of delivery delays so why don’t your staff on this sight face facts and admit to their customers of the severity of the situation. I was in a Thomson travel agents in Glasgow and like i mentioned in my previous message to you they are fully aware that delays are a fact and Thomson Dreamliners will not be delivered in time. I was told that they were also advised to remove Dreamliner posters from the store window!! Will i still get my seats in the premium cabin for my flights on whatever alternative aircraft Thomson have to provide? This will be my last ever booking involving your company as i feel that customers have been fooled into a false sense of security when it comes to your Dreamliners arriving on time-as a company i would respect Thomson a little more than i do at the moment if they were to be up front and honest….sorry but i am not impressed at all with Thomson :O(

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, Sorry to hear you feel this way. We are reassuring all of our customers flying on the Dreamliner that we are currently working close with Boeing on this matter. Once a decision has been made then we’ll be letting all of our customers know. In regards to premium seating we’re currently in the process of putting in place contingency plans. Where possible we will look to re-allocate customers onto a Thomson Airways 767. We operate a number of 767′s and the size of our premium cabin varies. Once we have more information from Boeing regarding delivery dates we’ll be able to look at which 767’s we have available to use in our fleet. As soon as Boeing confirm our delivery schedule, should there be any customers impacted, we will immediately contact those customers to confirm all details.

  99. Julie-ann says:

Why would you keep the seating plan a secret. What’s the big deal with letting people just view it prior to 90 days?
    That’s just stupid!

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Julie-Ann, The reason why it’s 90 days is because planes are allocated to the destinations at this period. I hope this helps

  100. Chelsea says:

    Hi,

I am flying to jamaica on 25th November 2013 and wanted to know if i will be flying on the dreamliner only so i can book premium if i am because i want to sit in a 2-3-2.
Can you tell me? My local first choice said No but looking at the schedule its a possibility.

    Thanks

    ps. Cant wait

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Chelsea, We want to make you aware that Thomson Airways has not yet been given a delivery date for its first 787 Dreamliner by Boeing. You can still book premium seats with us. We’re still working on our first Dreamliner flight of May the 1st.

  101. Julie-ann says:

So you are getting different types of Dreamliners”? This is why we can’t view because I was u see the impression that it was all same?

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Julie-Ann, Thank you for your question. We allocate planes 90 days in case any changes are made to the aircraft.

  102. Chris Clarke says:

Am i correct in thinking that the Dreamliner Premium Club seats 47?. I don’t think there are any 767s that have a Premium Cabin that seats 47 with the seat pitch offered by the Dreamliner. Whichever way Thomson dress it up they are letting passengers down very badly by not honouring what people have paid for. If people feel as strongly as i and many others do about not flying this aircraft and wish to cancel, they are then penalised by Thomson by having to pay ever increasing cancellation charges. It is totally unfair of Thomson to treat passengers in this way, it is not their fault Boeing cannot deliver. I would imagine that Thomson will have late delivery penalties in it’s contract with Boeing so are in a win win situation. You penalise both boeing and your passengers, passengers who have been tempted by Thomsons into booking their flights on this aircraft. What is worse, is that Thomson are still advertising that the flights on the Dreamliner at the start of May are still going to happen!!!!!!. How on earth can you say that???. On this very blog it has been stated that you don’t actually know if that is the case, which is misleading and smacks of a couldn’t care less attitude by Thomsons. People on this blog have asked questions because they are concerned about the current situation regarding this aircraft. Thomson representatives can’t/won’t give a straightforward answer to any of them, which in itself is very suspicious and very very unfair to people that have spent a lot of their hard earned money on a dream which, Thomson are turning into a nightmare. A disgraceful way to treat people.

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, The Dreamliner Premium Club does seat 47. With our contingency we’re looking into the 767′s as they may have the capacity to seat this amount. As previously stated Thomson Airways is still working towards flying our first commercial Dreamliner on the 1 May 2013. We want to make you aware that Thomson Airways has not yet been given a new delivery date for its first 787 Dreamliner by Boeing. Our priority is to ensure our customers go on their holidays and we are, therefore, putting contingency plans in place including using alternative aircraft for our long-haul flights to Mexico and Florida if delivery is delayed beyond the end of March.

  103. Barry H says:

I have noticed that you have repiled to a post above from someone asking if their flight is to be on a Dreamliner that Boeing has not given a delivery date for the first Dreamliner. In prior posts of this nature you were confirming if certain flight dates were or were not going to be dreamliner flights.
Is the above reply to Chelsea post the first indication fron Thomsons that the Dreamliners may well not be delivered on time?

    • Elaine @Thomson says:

Hi Barry, Thomson Airways hasn’t yet been given a new delivery date for its first 787 Dreamliner by Boeing. Our priority is to ensure our customers go on their holidays and we are, therefore, putting contingency plans in place including using alternative aircraft for our long-haul flights to Mexico and Florida if delivery is delayed beyond the end of March.

  104. Tom Merry says:

Further to my previous posts i am due to fly to Orlando from Glasgow on the Dreamliner late May-i now assume that the Dreamliner will not be flying by then so can someone explain to me if your contingency plans of arranging alternative aircraft will involve using Thomson aircraft and will these aircraft have the premium cabin seats which i booked? I travelled once before in the premium cabin of your 767 aircraft and it was a nightmare never to be repeated-i am due to pay the full balance on our holiday by the end of Feb so can you tell me what happens now as if the dreamliner is not happening i would rather cancel my Thomson flights and book with Virgin/B.A ( it was flights only i purchased on the dreamliner and accom from another company) What happens with regards to cancelling because of the lack of a Dreamliner? I hope it will be a full refund as my only reason for using Thomson was simply because you are supposed to have a dreamliner

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, Normal booking conditions will apply for customers who wish to amend or cancel their holiday until we have a confirmed delivery date of our Dreamliner from Boeing. Our priority is to ensure our customers go on their holidays and we’re, therefore, putting contingency plans in place including using alternative aircraft for our long-haul flights to Mexico and Florida if delivery is delayed beyond the end of March. These aircraft will have a premium cabin, so those that have paid extra for our 787 premium cabin, will be offered the same service they would have received on the 787 aircraft.

  105. carol dudley says:

We are due to fly on the dreamliner to mexico on the 5th May, if the dreamliner is not available we still wish to take our holiday, we have paid to select our seats, when will this option be available and will we know what plane we will be flying on

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Carol, You’ll be able to select your seats online 90 days before your return flight. However, should we not receive our Dreamliners in time, customers holidays will still go ahead and they will travel on an alternative aircraft. Once we have a confirmed delivery schedule from Boeing, if there any any changes made to the aircraft used, we’ll look to contact customers as soon as possible and advise you further.

  106. marge says:

hi, I have just pay the balance of the holiday, my main worry is it is said that the 767s have less seating than the dreamliner, and will there be any cancellations if the dreamliner delivery is delayed I have had to get special permission to get my child out of school, and I have a also pre booked park tickets for a certain dates so please thompson be up front and tell us yours plans we have a right to know, your holiday starts at the airport so you are spoiling our holiday before it begins I want to know that I WILL BE GOING ON THE HOLIDAY I BOOKED AND FULLY PAID you must know what yours plans are by now or you would not be taking any futher bookings for may, your first piority must be to the customers you have now instead cauing futher misery to to more families .

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Marge, I can understand the frustration this is causing. Our priority is to ensure our customers go on their holidays, and should we not receive our Dreamliners in time, your holiday will still go ahead and you’ll travel on an alternative aircraft. Once we have a confirmed delivery date, we’d let you know as soon as possible if this were to affect your flight plans.

  107. MAGS says:

how long before your holiday do you recieve your tickets

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Mags, These will be sent to the email address you gave us, 4-5 weeks before you’re due to travel.

      • mags says:

why my email address? my invoices come to my home address so why are the ticket for travelling sent my e mail thats no use can you explain what you mean please

        • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Mags, Have you made your booking in one of our stores, or online?

          • mags says:

I made a telephone booking and I have paid the balance at a local thompson shop . what happened to sending customers tickets with the details and luggage labels ect how does this e mial tickets work

          • Leanne @Thomson says:

Hi Mags, You will receieve an e-mail that will be your e-ticket. You just print this out and give this to the person on check-in at the airport.

          • mags says:

I PAID MY MONEY IN A THOPMSON SHOP AND I do not want an email as I cannot print it out I do not have a printer I could not read your last relpy because it is all blurred I wish I had not booked with thompson holidays NEVER AGAIN

          • Leanne @Thomson says:

Hi Mags, If you contact your local shop they will be able to print it for you. You could also visit your nearest library.

  108. craig john middleton says:

I have paid in full to fly on the dreamliner on the 6th of may out of gla , as I have booked for 3 weeks .I feel I am at a disatavanage for booking my seats that I have payed to book to those booking for 2 weeks due to the 90 day departue rule, and have payed more for the priviledge.
This is not fair just as £20pp refund is not .
I have the press just waiting to print a story……
I would like some conformation on what is happening asap
Stop burying your head in the sand and b honest with your hard earning customers.

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Craig, As soon as we have a confirmed delivery date, we’d let you know as soon as possible if any changes were made to your flight.

  109. craig john middleton says:

What about the disadvantage of booking my seats a week after the rest of the flight???

    • Lauren @Thomson says:

Hi Craig, When selecting your seats online, your flight plan will be open 90 days before your return flight. Those customers on the same outbound flight, but on a shorter holiday will have the option to select them before you. However, if you’d like to contact our Thomson Airways team over the phone you can book your outbound seats 90 days before your outbound flight. And you can then contact them again to select your inbound flight 90 days before your return flight. If you’d like to do this, you can contact the team on 0871 231 4787.

  110. Sharon says:

Hi on previous blogs I have been told the same information ref choosing seats 90 days before outbound flight on the Dreamliner going to Mexico on may15th I have phoned twice since the allowed date and have been told both times that you can’t choose seat numbers until 90 days before return flight and they say your giving out wrong information as the seat plans have not yet been released, now I have paid £240 for extra leg room seats and I will not be happy if we do not get the seats we wanted, through Thomsons lack of communication,

    • Leanne @Thomson says:

Hi Sharon, You’ll only be able to book your seats online 90 days before your inbound flight.

  111. Sharon says:

No I have phoned the number you keep quoting on here twice and they say no to booking over the phone I told them you said it was possible but not online they keep saying your giving out wrong information

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Sharon, You’ll need to wait until 90 days before your return flight to book your flight seats. These can then be done through our Flight Extras website.

  112. Sharon says:

Please tell me why is this when you are telling others and me previously you can book your outbound seats 90 days before departure date, why have you now changed your mind, also this puts people if only going for one week at an advantage when choosing seats,

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Sharon, I’m sorry for any disappointment this has caused. We’re unable to select your seats one way, customers are able to select their seats on both flights once you’re 90 days before your return flight.

  113. mags says:

dont worry about booking you seats on the dreamline in may as it looks now according to boeing that the aircraft that have been grounded, the ban will not be lifted to about May so how will thompsons put in the air miles for their may flights

  114. Chris Clarke says:

Well Looks like the Dreamliner will not be flying as promised by Thomson after all. Boeing have suggested a short term fix to the FAA. This consists of a heavy duty Titanium/Steel confinement box. This would apparently contain any fire resulting from a battery meltdown. However it will take at least 3 months for this to be designed and it’s highly unlikely that this fix will be accepted by the FAA. Now if i can find out this information WHY can’t Thomson pass this information to it’s passengers. Even if the FAA do accept this proposal it’s going to take a minimum of 3 months to come up with a safe design, it then has to be manufactured and fitted. Then there is time to be spent on crew familiarisation.Time to be up front Thomson.

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, We’ve given the latest information at the moment, as we’ve said we’re putting contingency plans in place including using alternative aircraft for our long-haul flights to Mexico and Florida if delivery is delayed beyond the end of March.

      • Chris Clarke says:

Dan why can’t you be upfront with people who have spent £££££s to fly on this aircraft. Thomson now know that they will not be getting the Dreamliners before the end of March. Yes you can change to the 767 but you know they don’t seat 47 in a Premium Cabin, people that have paid for this will lose out. Thomson are still advertising seats on the Dreamliner for the beginning of May, how can you continue to do this when you now know it’s highly unlikely you will have taken delivery. Thomson are being so unfair. You refuse point blank to acknowledge that people are seriously concerned, you continue to try and pull the wool over peoples eyes. It is a disgusting way to treat people who have trusted Thomson to provide a service. I would imagine that Thomson will lose out to other operators due to sheer greed and customer service that is virtually non existent.

        • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, I’m sorry you feel this way. We’re currently in the process of putting in place contingency plans.

          • Chris Clarke says:

Dan, i’m sorry but all you have done is give the same stock answer to anyone that has asked for a straightforward answer. It is futile to try and get anyone from Thomson to give a direct answer. You stated in a previous reply to me that you had given the most up to date information, no you haven’t, i have. Where has anyone from Thomson given information regarding the”FIX” put forward to the FAA and the length of time this will take to be implemented should it be accepted, they haven’t, why what have Thomson got to hide?. People deserve to be kept informed of developments good or bad not treated like mushrooms. Thomson know what the current situation is, they will be kept in the loop by both Boeing and the FAA,it’s only fair that Thomson afford it’s passengers the same courtesy,or is that too much to ask?.

          • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, We’re aware that there have been articles in the news about the Dreamliner but at this time, we’ve not been given any further information directly from Boeing so we’re unable to comment on this.

  115. Sharon says:

    why no reply

  116. mags says:

I wish I had never booked with thompson now ,and gone with virgin hols I am glad that the dreamliners have been grounded because how many people would feel safe and I am not happy with the out of date 767 as an alternative to the dreamliner I feel that i have been duped and will never use thompson again I traveled with travel city direct and they now use virgin aircraft I never had a complaint with them why did I go back to thompson I will never know but never again I will fly the dreamliner some day but when it is safe and with another airliner

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Mags, I’m sorry you feel this way, our priority is to ensure our customers go on their holidays and we are, therefore, putting contingency plans in place including using alternative aircraft for our long-haul flights to Mexico and Florida if delivery is delayed beyond the end of March.

      • mags says:

change the record we all all sick of scripted replies we are not school children so stop trying to humour us and give indvidiual answers to question asked are you unable to give a proper reply are you a thompson robot programmed to give the same replies , sometimes I do wonder who is behind ????@thompson

        • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Mags, I’m sorry if you’re unhappy with our responses. Until we have more information, we’re unable to provide anything further at this time.

  117. Lilian McClymont says:

We are travelling out on the Dreamliner on the 5th of may from Glasgow. Could you tell me does the Dreamliner supply eye mask, earplugs, and travel socks.

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Lilian, You’ll have a pampering pack included if you’re flying in our Premium Club seating.

      • Lilian McClymont says:

We are flying economy so does that mean that that economy don’t need the pampering pack or that they don’t sleep or won’t suffer from deep vein thrombosis

        • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Lilian, I can confirm that you’ll still receive the pampering pack when flying in Economy.

    • marrgaret says:

hi lilian are you jokin? by all accounts you will be lucky to get a dreamliner,if read boeing website it is not hopeful, you will get you earplugs ect but it will be on a 767 as at the monent there will be no 787 in may unless a miracle happens that is the best chance you will get at present I am also going in may also and am very disappointed about the dreamliner just get there safely that is the main thing.

  118. Howard says:

Have just booked 11 night stay in Orlando and due to fly back on a dreamliner on 7th May. we’ve booked premier seats but if this aircraft is not available will Thomson use alternative aircraft with premier cabin/seats. Do they lease aircraft from other airlines if they have no suitable one available themselves. We got caught out with this before when a previous flight back from florida had the aircraft substituted from a 767 to a 757 and even though we had paid for premium seats we ended up squashed and some didn’t even get to fly as there were not enough seats on the 757 so they had to return with another airline from Orlando International. What a way to end your holiday!

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Howard, Should our customers not be travelling on the Dreamliner, where possible we’ll re-allocate them onto a Thomson Airways 767 aircraft with a premium cabin. This means those that have paid extra for our 787 premium cabin, will be offered the same service they would have received on the 787 aircraft. As soon as we have our delivery schedule confirmed by Boeing, should there be any customers impacted, we’ll immediately contact those customers to confirm all the details.

  119. Tom Merry says:

I am due to fly Glasgow to Orlando on 26/5/13 on your Dreamliner aircraft. I booked a package holiday with Thomson and we will be seated in the premier economy seats towards the front of the aircraft.
I have now been advised that should the Dreamliner aircraft not be available to fly that Thomson have arranged alternative aircraft ( Thomson 767′s i assume ) and that our seats in premier economy ARE NOT guaranteed and we may have to sit in the ordinary seats of the aircraft. I paid a fortune for this Thomson holiday and i am totally shocked at the way you as a company are treating your valuable customers. Thomson should hang their head in shame as no-one is being upfront and honest about this shambles as each person from Thomsons that i speak to gives me a totally different answer.
Please can you tell me exactly what the situation is with regards possibly NOT getting the premium economy seats i paid good money for. Also.what if i do not wish to be seated in the ordinary cabin? How i wish i had stuck by Virgin or B.A. as going by the total lack of customer care i have received from your company i can safely say i shall NEVER use Thomson ever again.

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, We’re currently in the process of putting in place contingency plans and where possible we’ll look to re-allocate customers onto a Thomson Airways 767. We operate a number of these aircraft and the size of our premium cabin varies. Once we have more information from Boeing regarding delivery date, we’ll be able to look at which 767′s we have available to use in our fleet. And should there be any customers impacted, we will immediately contact those customers to confirm all details.

  120. Chris Clarke says:

Dan can i just add,the information i submitted yesterday was taken from a joint press release by Boeing and the FAA. I’m sure that Thomson will have been aware of this, why have you not made your passengers aware of it.

  121. sharon goodall says:

Hi Dan, With reference to our conversation on the 18th booking seats via thomson telephone line 90 days before departure to choose seats on just outbound on flights, your response to me was on the 19th Hi Sharon, I’m sorry for any disappointment this has caused. We’re unable to select your seats one way, customers are able to select their seats on both flights once you’re 90 days before your return flight. I would like to say i phoned yet again for a 4th time and finally got to choose my seat numbers on just my outbound flight, The information you and your staff on this website is incorrect, you all need to sort out communication

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Sharon, I’m sorry you feel this way. Our policy has recently changed and customers are no longer able to call to select seats one way for customers when their outbound flight only is within 90 days. Customers do need to use our Flight Extras website to select their seats 90 days before their inbound flight. But thanks for making us aware.

  122. Chris Clarke says:

Oh dear oh dear, Rhiannon do you honestly expect people to believe that Boeing would actually speak to the press before speaking to their customers. I’m afraid that is a pretty poor excuse for not keeping passengers informed. If that is actually true then i’m afraid your press office colleagues should be taking a close look at themselves. However we all know the realities of this. Thomsons have dug a huge PR hole for themselves which is impossible for them to get out of now. It will be interesting to see when you actually come clean about this fiasco,it has been going on since early January.

  123. Tom Merry says:

Hello~can someone PLEASE answer my enquiry dated 20/2/13 ( above) ) it is still awaiting moderation however i need answers as i am due to pay the full balance on my Thomson holiday to Florida on your Dreamliner within the next few days and i certainly do not want to be parting with well over £3,000 before i know exactly where i stand regarding this ongoing nightmare. Your staff in my local branch are clueless!!

  124. sharon goodall says:

So are you telling me your policy only changed yesterday as i booked my seats outbound on the 20th, and im still 100 days before my inbound flight

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Sharon, The policy has only recently changed but I’ll make sure your feedback is passed on. Thanks for letting us know.

  125. Mrs J says:

Upon reading all these comments, its sickening to see the same reply from Thomson!!!! , we have saved hard to be able to go on a once in a life time holiday (may never be able to afford it again ) and to fly on the dreamliner, although safety comes first and i think the whole frounding of the 787 has completley took the spark out of the excitement of flying on it , we was looking forward to it.
But for Thomson not to be upfront and confirm the changes 10 weeks before were expected to go is disgusting !!!! also the fact that we are just being put on a 767 !! how very nice !!!! 9 hour flight on a 767 was not my idea of a holiday !!!1 The main reason for booking in May was the Dreamliner !! all customers should get some kind of compensation !!! but i suppose thats a dream as well, just like the Dream…..liner !!!

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

Hi Mrs J, It’s disappointing to read that you’re unhappy with our responses on the blog. We’re receiving similar questions from customers so this may be why you’re seeing similar answers from us. We’ve provided customers with the most information we have at this time but as soon as we receive anything new, we’ll update everyone.

      • Chris Clarke says:

Could you please point out what the most up to date information is exactly. Virtually every answer has been identical. The most up to date information i can find was submitted by me on 19/2/13. All Thomson have said is that you are formulating contingency plans and that’s it. That is not what people want or expect.

        • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, This is the latest information at the moment. We’ve not yet been given a new delivery date for its first 787 Dreamliner by Boeing. Our priority is to ensure our customers go on their holidays and we are, therefore, putting contingency plans in place including using alternative aircraft for our long-haul flights to Mexico and Florida if delivery is delayed beyond the end of March.

          • Chris Clarke says:

That is exactly the same answer you have been giving for the last 6 weeks. The utter contempt in which you are treating people on here is disgusting. Why have you not admitted or denied the truth regarding the information i placed on here days ago?. The fact of the matter is that you know full well that this aircraft will not be flying from the dates you are saying it will, that is wrong. Thomson have a duty to all it’s fare paying passengers to keep them informed of developments, your are failing to do that. These passengers need to be kept up to date,if this aircraft does not fly some may want to make alternative arrangements. Of course the longer Thomson leave it the closer it gets to peoples holiday, the more expensive it becomes to cancel and make these alternative plans.

At this moment in time all Thomson is bothered about is Thomson. All people want is the truth regarding their holiday, sadly they are not going to get it by asking questions on here. The information given on here by Thomson has been the same since the aircraft were grounded, there has been NO new or latest information since then. You should be treating these people with more respect. You would not accept people treating your cabin crew in this manner.

By continuing with this attitude you will lose customers and rightly so. Virgin and BA will be laughing all the way to the bank.

  126. Michelle C says:

In reference to the above, THEN WHY DON’T YOU ASK YOUR BOSSES TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT IF THEY DON’T GET TO FLY ON THE DREAMLINER THEY WILL BE SUFFICIENTLY COMPENSATED OR A FULL REFUND….???? Instead of saying the same old thing! Ask someone official! Yes you don’t know when your delivery date is but you could give people going in May choices! All Thomson owners have told you to do is quote T&C’s and £20 refund, that is unacceptable. I bet when they travel it’s First Class! People want to book airport hotels, park tickets ect….. I don’t want to be just plonked on an old plane either and will go further to get what is due!

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Michelle, We’ve given the latest information currently. Should any customers be affected by a change of plane then we’ll be in touch once our contingency plans are finalised.

      • Chris Clarke says:

Can i have a truthful answer to this question. Are you saying that since the Dreamliners were grounded worldwide in January, neither Boeing or the FAA have released any information to Thomson,or any other Airline for that matter, regarding the ongoing problems with this aircraft?. I am giving you the chance to be honest & truthful about this as i already know the answer.

        • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, As we’ve previously advised we’ve been informed by Boeing that our scheduled delivery has moved out of February. However we’ve not yet been given a new delivery date for our first 787 Dreamliner by Boeing.

          • Chris Clarke says:

And what about the fact that the Dreamliner is to remain grounded for possibly the next 3 months according to the FAA.

          • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, We’d be unable to comment on reports from other websites.

  127. MARGARET says:

IN 2009 THE INFLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT WAS BROKEN ON A 767 AIRCRAFT, I HAVE JUST READ ANOTHER BLOGG AND A CUSTOMER ON A 767 FLIGHT IN 2011 THE SAME PROBLEMS OCCURED CAN YOU ENSURE ME THAT AS WELL AS THE LOVELY PAINT JOB ON THE EXTERIOR THAT THE INTEROIR WILL BE WHAT YOU ADVERTISE IN YOUR BROCHURE AND I DO NOT WANT A REPLY YOU WILL PASS THE INFORMATION ON THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH WE WERE OFFERED A DREAM AND NOT A LONG HAUL FIGHT LOOKING AT A BLANK SCREEN

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Margaret, We’ve painted one of our 767 planes so far. We will also be refreshing some of our 767 interiors, for those planes that are staying in the fleet. Should our customers not be travelling on a 787 Dreamliner, where possible we will re-allocate them onto a Thomson Airways 767 aircraft with a premium cabin. This means those that have paid extra for our 787 premium cabin, will be offered the same service they would have received on the 787 aircraft. Those customers who have not paid for a premium cabin will be allocated seats in the Thomson Airways 767 economy cabin. Those in economy will also receive the same level of service they would have received on the 787.

      • marrgaret says:

refreshing some of your planes this sounds like a get out jail card for Thompson well I do hope it is one of the ones I on I think Thompson are obliged to make sure that their customers receive the same level of service and it would be very foolish to add more disappointment and worry to customers I am on a may flight so get working now

        • Dan @Thomson says:

  128. Chris Clarke says:

Dan, as you well know it is not from another website it’s from a joint press release by Boeing and the FAA.

  129. Chris Clarke says:

Well i think everyone on this blog can now plainly see what Thomson think of them. There was a joint press release issued by Boeing and the FAA. This release, in effect, puts the Dreamliner out of action for possibly 3 months. Thomson would have it’s passengers believe that this is not true. The FAA are the ones who will say when the Dreamliner will fly again, not Boeing and Boeing still cannot pinpoint the problem with the aircraft.

Thomson know this but are not prepared to admit it to their passengers. That is the reason that every answer given on here is the same, contingency plan, other aircraft etc etc. Thomson, you do not seem to realise that the people on here would have been willing to accept that all this was not your fault if you had just done the decent thing, and kept them up to date.

Thomson chose to go a different route, you decided to hide what was actually happening and bore your passengers in the hope they would give up asking questions. Well you are wrong to take this option, people are not as foolish as you think and questions will continue to be asked. These people are entitled to have their questions answered they have paid for that and it’s the very least you can do.

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, As we’ve mentioned before we’ve given the most up to date information at the moment. We’re working on contingency plans at the moment and once these are complete any customers who may be affected will be notified.

  130. Tom Merry says:

A family member tried to book Dreamliner flights from Glasgow to Orlando for mid June 2013-when she checked availability for seats in the premier cabin of the aircraft there were readily available on virtually every weekly flight however on checking the next day ALL PREMIER CABIN SEATS seemed to have been removed from sale from 5/5/13 until mid July?? Reading between the lines i am guessing that Thomson are assuming they will not have the Dreamliner until around that time? As much as i agree that it is not directly Thomsons fault for the Dreamliner problems what really annoys me is the fact that Thomson seem so reluctant to be up front and tell customers exactly where they stand.
I am due to travel on 26/5/13 supposedly on the Dreamliner and it only takes a few seconds to check Boeing sites online to know that the Dreamliner will not be flying agin for at least another 3-4 months so why not be honest to customers like me who have paid a fortune for their hard earned yearly holiday. I will NEVER use Thomson again as their customer care is shocking! Can you tell me the name of the customer services manager at Thomson please as i feel it’s now well over due for someone in charge at Thomson to take control of this nightmare instead of sitting back counting profits

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, Thank you for message. I understand and appreciate your concerns that you may have. Thomson Airways is still working towards flying the Dreamliner on the 1st of May. We’re working very close with Boeing and once we have the information from them after they’ve carried out the investigations with the FAA, we’ll contact affected customers. If you would like to speak to a senior member you can do by emailing us at cares@thomson.co.uk and we’ll be sure to forward the email to the specialist department.

  131. Chris Clarke says:

I’m sorry Dan but that is not true. Where on this blog has ANY Thomson Rep said that it is possible that this aircraft may be out of action for a minimum of 3 months, as has been stated by the FAA? and that is the most up to date information available at this time. Thomson have already admitted that they have no idea when they will take delivery so why are you still selling flights on this aircraft for the start of May?. You are selling a service that you know you may not be able to provide without telling people and that is not being honest with your customers.

  132. William Dickeson says:

We are due to fly on the Dreamliner to Orlando,Florida on 26/5/13 and return on 9/6/13. We booked the premier cabin both ways. Will we automatically be given two seats together? if not, how do i book two seats together. Thank you

    • Joanne @Thomson says:

Hi William, As you’ve booked premium seats, you have access to the Select Your Seats facility. This allows you to log on to the flight plan and choose your seats. The flight plan will be available 90 days before your return date and can be accessed at http://www.flightextras.thomson.co.uk

  133. Julie-ann says:

I was told by a sales advisor in the shop yesterday that’s its all blown out of proportion and that sit in 2% if the fleet that has problems!!!!!
Hey I’m fine with that then as long as 98% are ok why ground them all? IS SHE SURE? Ever heard the saying ‘better to be safe than sorry’ I actually was gobsmacked that she was so flippant over something that could potentially be reaponsible for a major air disaster!

    • Julie-ann says:

That should have read ‘ that there is a problem with only 2% of the fleet!

    • Lauren K @Thomson says:

Hi Julie-ann, I can only apologise for the service you feel you’ve received from an advisor in store. We’re currently working closely with Boeing during their investigation but have not yet received any further information regarding our delivery dates for the Dreamliner. Once we have this information, we’ll look to let our customers know as soon as possible, should their flight be affected. I can appreciate the frustration this may be causing but rest assured, safety is our number 1 priority.

  134. sharon says:

Hi i have booked extra leg room seats on the 787 dreamliner to mexico may 15th paying a total of £240 for two passengers, the reason for this is so not having to ask other passengers to move when wanting to move around the aircraft as the seating is 3 3 3. Now it seems if you dont get your delivery in time the aircraft will be a 767 with seat plan of 2 4 2. If this is the case i will not be needing extra let room as we will be able to have just two seats together therefore not needing to ask a stranger to move,, as this wont be our fault will we be able to have a refund and just choose to sit together, thanks

  135. sharon goodall says:

hi where is my blog gone

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Sharon, We have to approve comments before they appear on the blog. I’ve just responded to your other comment.

  136. Julie-ann says:

I’ve just been told in branch that you have received an update this morning that you will not be receiving or running the Dreamliners now until the beginning of July. Are you expecting if this is the case that holidays after the beginning of July should all run as per the schedule?

    • Dan @Thomson says:

Hi Julie-ann, Once we have a confirmed delivery date and if this impacts further bookings, we will be in touch with any customers affected if necessary. Currently only customers flying in May and June have had their flights changed.

  137. marrrgaret says:

hi Dan, I have had a phone call from Thompson this moring telling me that my dreamliner flight im may has been cancelled thompson will be using the 767′s and I will gt a twenty pound refund has anyone else had a similiar call my flight ios towards the end of May

  138. Tom Merry says:

Hello~i have just heard via my friend that we will not be flying on your Dreamliner on 26/5/13 to Florida~we booked this holiday mainly to experience the Dreamliner and now it’s an alternative aircraft. We paid rather a high cost for this holiday as we upgraded to the premier cabin seats.
Can i ask the following please…will we be assured of the same premier cabin seats on the alternative aircraft? Can we change our holiday to a date whereby we will definitely be on the Dreamliner ( as in late summer/autumn? ) Are customers being compensated in anyway by Thomson?

Hi Tom, Our Boeing 767 planes have a Premium Club cabin so you’ll still receive these seats. We’ll also be re-allocating your seat selection on the alternative aircraft and where possible will allocate these as near to your original selection as possible. We will be refunding customers the supplement of £20 per person they have paid to fly on the Dreamliner. Along with this any customers who’ve booked Premium Club seats will have a further gesture of £80 per person.

I think anyone who books an expensive holiday to Florida ‘mainly to experience the Dreamliner’ have more time & money than sense.

      • Tom Merry says:

Maximus….can i suggest you keep your pathetic and pointless views about me to yourself~maybe i do have more sense and money than you do but that is my business….grow up and get a life

        • Tom Merry says:

p.s. Also “Thomson” why do you allow comments like Maximus’s to be posted on here? He is obviously a self opinionated idiot :o /

  139. Tom Merry says:

Hello Dan~thanks for that information…i am due to to select my seats in the Premium cabin on 11/3/13 ( 3 months prior to my return date ) I assume that the refunds you mentioned will come to me via the travel agent i booked with? We are a party of two so in total i should receive £200 is this correct?

    • Elaine @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, If you’ve booked through a travel agent, then they will refund your deposit. For 2 of you this will be a total of £200. I hope this answers your query.

      • Tom Merry says:

Elaine…can i ask when my travel agent will be able to make the refund to me?

        • James @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, Thanks for your message regarding your refund. We’re currently in the process of transferring our passengers over to our 767 aircraft’s for their long haul flights, as this is being done in order of customers with the earliest departure dates. Our Teams will be processing the refunds back to you shortly. We’ll be in touch when this has been confirmed and also send your new holiday booking confirmation out to you.

  140. Chris Clarke says:

So what your customers were telling you weeks ago was in fact correct. How do you explain that Thomson?.

    • Adam @Thomson says:

Hi Chris, Our priority has been to ensure that customers’ holidays will continue as planned and have therefore been working on contingency plans to fly alternative aircraft for our 787 routes to Mexico and Florida. Boeing has also failed to provide us with a new delivery date. For these reasons we have not been able to inform customers sooner.

  141. carol dudley says:

How will the £20 refund be paid back, I booked on line?

    • Elaine @Thomson says:

Hi Carol, It’ll take approximately two to three weeks for customers to receive their refund. We need to ensure that customers are given sufficient time to come back to us with their decision and after this time has elapsed all refunds will be processed. Customers who’ve paid on line will have their payment refunded on to the debit or credit card that they used to pay.

  142. Tom Merry says:

Hello~can you please tell me why i am unable to pre-select my seats in the premier cabin of my flight to Orlando on 26/5/13? Firstly i was told to wait until 3 months prior to my return to the UK date but i have now been told that i cannot pre-select seats as the seating plans have been closed down?……whats going on??

    • Elaine @Thomson says:

Hi Tom, Once the two week period has passed for customers to make a decision on their options, who were due to fly on the Dreamliner, the seat map will be open. You’ll be able to select your seats from 19 March 2013. i hope this answers your query.

      • Tom Merry says:

Hello again Elaine….i don’t quite understand exactly what options are available to me as no-one has contacted me from Thomson??? I was told above by one of your colleagues that i would be due a total refund of £200 ( for a party of two ) however i have heard nothing further about this either?
When you say options can you tell me exactly what you mean please? Can we transfer to another flight later in the year when you will have your Dreamliners for sure? Or can we get a full refund because you are no longer able to offer the Dreamliner? Please advise me what my “options” are
        Many tahnks

  143. Paul Vincent says:

What do you mean by Premium Club and Economy Club. Is it just Economy and Premium Economy with similar pricing

    • Rhiannon @Thomson says:

  144. Nick Wallace says:

Have you got the seating plan yet ?
If so, are you putting it on seat guru website

    • Samantha @Thomson says:

Hi Nick, We have got a seating plan for our Dreamliner flights. The configuration in our premium seats is 2-3-2 and the configuration in our standard seats is 3-3-3. This is subject to change.

  145. Carla says:

Hi I’m flying to Sanford Orlando on 29th July flight tom156-157,was just wondering if this is a Dreamliner flight, thank you

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Carla, If you could provide me with your booking reference I’ll be able to look into this for you.

  146. Chels says:

  147. michelle mccole says:

My son is 10years old and still uses nappies he is disabled.I really want to take him to florida but its a long flight and worried about changing pads do you have any facilities for this? I read that the dreamliner has disabled toilets but how disabled friendly are they? have they taken in mind that a carer may need to assist in the toilet?

    • Stefan @Thomson says:

Hi Michelle, The disabled lavatory on the B787 is in fact 2 single lavatories that can be joined together. This will create a large space that should enable the customer to assist your son.
